WHAT TO EXPECT
Curious about what a hypnotherapy session is like? Let's walk through what to expect before, during, and after your session—so you can feel informed, comfortable, and confident as you begin your journey toward positive change.
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a state of heightened awareness and relaxation where the individual is in a trance-like state. In this state, they are more open to suggestion, and the hypnotherapist can use this to create positive change in the individual.
IS HYPNOSIS SAFE?
Yes, hypnosis is safe when practiced by a trained and qualified hypnotherapist. It is a non-invasive and drug-free therapy that has been used for many years to help people overcome a variety of issues.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?
The number of hypnosis sessions needed will vary depending on the individual and the goal or concern being addressed. Some issues may require only a few sessions, while others may require more. My intention is to heal you in as few sessions as possible. If you choose to return in the future, it will likely be to address a new goal or concern.
CAN HYPNOSIS MAKE YOU DO THINGS AGAINST YOUR WILL?
No, hypnosis cannot make you do anything against your will. During a session, you remain fully aware and in control. You cannot be forced to say or do anything that goes against your personal values, moral beliefs, or ethical boundaries. The hypnotherapist’s role is to guide and support you—not to take over your mind.
IS HYPNOSIS THE SAME AS SLEEP?
No, hypnosis is not the same as sleep. In hypnosis, you are in a state of heightened awareness and relaxation, but you are still aware of what is happening around you. Unlike sleep, your mind remains active and focused, allowing you to respond to suggestions and participate in the process.
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS USED FOR?
Hypnosis can be used for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, phobias, weight loss, smoking cessation, pain management, and sports performance enhancement. It can also be used to improve sleep, boost confidence, and reduce stress.
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE HYPNOTIZED?
Hypnosis feels different for everyone, but most people describe it as a deeply relaxed and peaceful state of both mind and body. You remain aware and in control, yet experience a calm detachment from your surroundings—similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, or daydream. Your attention becomes highly focused, and your thoughts may feel more vivid, clear, or even slowed down. Some individuals report sensations of lightness, floating, or gentle heaviness as the body relaxes more deeply. Others may simply feel calm and centered. It’s a natural and pleasant state where your subconscious mind becomes more open to positive suggestions, making it an effective tool for lasting change.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST SESSION?
Preparing for your first hypnotherapy session is simple. Come with an open mind and a clear intention about what you’d like to focus on. There’s no need to do anything specific during hypnosis; just allow yourself to follow the guidance and trust the process. If your session is via Zoom, start by finding a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax without interruptions.
